Privacy Policy
Pantry Scale is a recipe and kitchen app published by an individual in London, Ontario, Canada. It is an app name, not a corporation or a registered company. This policy covers the Android app, a future iOS app, and the website, for people in Canada, the United States, the European Economic Area, and the United Kingdom.

Who is responsible
The person who publishes Pantry Scale decides why and how personal information is used when you sync an account. Information that never leaves your device is under your control. That person is in Ontario, Canada, and does not have an office in the United States, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom.
What we use, and why
Recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, and photos you choose to keep are stored on the device so the app can work. You can use it with no account.
If you sign in with Google, X, or email, we store the name and email that provider sends, and the recipes, plan, and shopping list you sync, so the same kitchen can open on your other devices. We do not receive your Google or X password.
A nutrition log is a record of what you say you ate, plus an estimate. We use it only to show you that log. We treat it as information about you, including health-related information where the law does. We do not use it to diagnose anyone, to advertise, or to make an automated decision about you.
The camera and photo library run only when you add an image or scan a page. A normal read stays on the device. A Premium careful read sends that photo, page, note, or file to Google Gemini so the recipe can be structured. The household shares 40 of those reads a month. Google processes them only to provide the read. We do not use them for advertising.
If you paste a recipe link, the app requests that page from the site you named, so it can read the recipe. A Premium careful read may send the text of that page to Google Gemini for the same limited purpose.
If you pay, Google Play or Apple processes the payment. We learn whether the purchase is active so the app can unlock it. We never receive your card number.
If you join a household, people with the invite can see the shared recipes, plan, and shopping list. Nutrition stays on each person’s own account.
Legal reasons
In Canada we collect information that a reasonable person would consider appropriate for a kitchen app, with your consent, which you can withdraw.
In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, we rely on these reasons: performing the app you asked for (recipes, plan, shop, and an account you chose); your consent (camera, photos, and a nutrition log); and a legal obligation if a tax or store rule requires a purchase record. You can withdraw consent in the app by deleting the log, the photo, or the account. Withdrawal does not affect use that already happened.
In the United States we use the same information for those same purposes. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context advertising.
Where it is stored
The device copy stays on the device until you delete it or remove the app. A signed-in copy is kept on our database until you delete the item or the account. Those servers may be in Canada or the United States. For people in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, that is a transfer outside those regions. Where the law requires a safeguard, we use the standard contractual clauses or an equivalent allowed by that law. We do not transfer information for advertising.
We keep a purchase record only as long as the store, tax, or a legal claim requires it. We do not keep a deleted account for ordinary use.
Who else sees it
Sign-in providers see the sign-in. Google or Apple see the purchase. A household member sees what that household shares. A website sees a request only when you ask the app to read that website. Service providers who host the database may process a signed-in kitchen on our instructions. We do not sell personal information. We do not show third-party ads.
Your rights
You can download the kitchen from Settings, delete a recipe on its page, and delete a signed-in account in Settings. Deleting an account does not cancel a store subscription. Cancel that in Google Play or the App Store.
In Canada you can ask for access to the information we hold, ask for a correction, and withdraw consent. You can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
In the United States, including California, you can ask us to confirm, provide, correct, or delete personal information we hold, and to opt out of a sale. We do not sell or share it for advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. We will not charge you more or cut the app off for asking. If we deny a request, you can appeal by writing again once a contact address is listed on this page.
In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom you can ask for access, correction, deletion, a restriction, a portable copy, and to object to a use based on our interests. You can withdraw consent. You can complain to the privacy authority where you live, or to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Use Settings for a download or a deletion the app can do itself. Other requests can be sent to the contact address once it is listed on this page. We may need to confirm it is you. We answer within the time the law gives, usually 30 days, or 45 days in some US states if the law allows an extension and we tell you.
Children
Pantry Scale is not directed at children under 13, or under 16 where a European or UK rule uses that age for consent to an information-society service. We do not knowingly collect their information. A child’s account can be deleted from Settings.
Security and changes
We use reasonable safeguards. No app or server is perfectly secure. If a breach creates a real risk of harm, we will notify the people and the authorities the law requires.
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date above and, where the law requires it, tell you in the app before the change applies.
